The global textile market is heading towards US$2 trillion. Where the growth is, and how Pakistan is positioned across the EU, USA and emerging markets.
The global picture
The global textile and apparel market is on a steady path towards the US$2 trillion mark, driven by a growing world population, the continued shift of fashion and home retail online, and rising demand for technical and performance textiles. After several volatile years, buyers in 2026 are prioritising supply-chain resilience and predictable lead times alongside price, and that is reshaping where the world's textiles are made.
Three structural trends define the year: a continued diversification away from single-country sourcing, tighter expectations on sustainability and traceability, and the steady growth of low-MOQ private-label demand from online-first brands. Each of these plays to the strengths of established, vertically integrated origins like Pakistan.
Where Pakistan fits
Pakistan is one of the world's top-ten textile and apparel exporters and a global leader in cotton-based products and home textiles. In FY2025 (July 2024 to June 2025) the country exported roughly US$17.9 billion of textiles and apparel, up about 7.4% year-on-year, and textiles make up 55 to 60% of all Pakistani exports.
What sets Pakistan apart in a crowded field is vertical integration: many mills run cotton spinning, weaving, processing and garment manufacturing under coordinated ownership, which shortens lead times and gives buyers tighter control over quality from yarn to finished product.
The China+1 reshuffle
As international buyers continue to diversify beyond a single dominant supplier, sourcing volume is redistributing across South and Southeast Asia. Pakistan is a clear beneficiary of this 'China+1' strategy, particularly for cotton-rich categories where it has decades of specialism: home textiles, terry towels, denim and knitwear.
- Sustainability & traceability: OEKO-TEX, GOTS, BCI and recycled-content lines are increasingly a condition of doing business, not a premium add-on.
- Near-shoring & lead times: buyers are paying closer attention to delivery reliability, not just unit cost.
- Low-MOQ private label: online-first home and apparel brands want smaller, faster runs that established Pakistani partners can accommodate.
- Technical & healthcare textiles: performance, antimicrobial and medical textiles are among the fastest-growing segments.
Outlook for buyers
For buyers across the EU, USA, Middle East and UK, 2026 is a year to lock in resilient, accountable sourcing relationships rather than chase the lowest quoted price. Pakistan's combination of scale, cotton quality, vertical integration and (for EU-landed product) GSP+ duty-free access makes it a structurally competitive origin as global demand climbs towards US$2 trillion.
The practical route in is unchanged: send a clear brief, approve samples in writing, and let an accountable partner manage quality and delivery to your market.
